Recently, I came across a photograph of my son reading to our neighbor's little girl, in a metal washtub. To keep a watchful eye on her daughter, the little girl's mother had placed her toddler in the washtub to play, while she conducted her garage sale. As my son and I visited the neighborhood event, he found a wonderful little plastic book among the items for sale. Without warning, he immediatley seized the opportunity to exhibit his "reading skills" to his little friend and climbed into the basin of water, shoes and all. It was such a sweet moment of caring and friendship. I just had to run home and grab my camera.
